HR Assessment and Roadmap
What is an HR Assessment and Roadmap (formerly HR Audit)?
-
We have you fill out a comprehensive HR assessment to help us discover what is going on in your current HR practices.
-
We then schedule a time to meet you and your chosen executive team for 2-3 hours to discuss the assessment, look at HR-related documents, and ask any clarifying questions.
-
Your HR Expert will prepare a 15-page written report where we discuss our findings and our 12-month HR plan tailored for you.

HR Assessment and Roadmap Case Study
The Company : Manufacturing firm with 45 employees and 9 million in revenue. They are located only in Georgia and no other states.
The Scenario: We were called because the CEO knows there is a need in their firm for HR, but truly does not know the level of need. The COO believes a Full-time HR Generalist or Manager is needed, but they only know that HR compliance needs to be looked at. They asked for our advice on what they needed and if we could hire an HR Manager for them.
The HR Assessment and Roadmap Solution: Our HR Expert, Karen, talked to the COO about our HR Assessment and Roadmap, where we look at their compliance like they asked but also at the other 13 areas of HR in small businesses. We conducted the comprehensive HR Assessment in about 3 hours, and we delivered our 12-month HR plan that we call “The HR Roadmap”.
The HR Assessment and Roadmap Result: Our HR Expert, Karen, delivered their “HR Roadmap” with our recommendations. Within the recommendations, we told them they actually did not need a Full-time HR Manager, but Karen suggested a Part-time HR Generalist for 20 hours/week accompanied by hourly consulting with an HR expert. A much cheaper option and exactly what they needed.
The HR Assessment and Roadmap Cost: Based on the size of the firm and only being located in one state, this HR Assessment and Roadmap was $3,150.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
There are three steps. First, you’ll complete a detailed questionnaire covering everything from how you onboard employees to how you handle performance issues and compliance. Second, you’ll sit down for a 2-hour deep-dive with one of our SHRM-certified HR Directors — someone with 20+ years of experience — to walk through what you shared. Third, we deliver a custom 12-month HR roadmap that tells you exactly what to fix, in what order, and why it matters.
-
Every HR Assessment & Roadmap is led by a SHRM-certified HR Director with 20+ years of experience. This isn’t a junior consultant running through a checklist — it’s someone who has built HR departments, handled complex employee situations, and knows what actually works for small and mid-sized businesses.
-
Most clients complete the questionnaire in about 30 minutes. From there, we schedule the 2-hour deep-dive session at a time that works for you, typically within a week or two. After that session, we deliver the completed 12-month HR roadmap within 3–5 business days. Start to finish, most clients wrap up the full process in 1–2 weeks.
-
You’ll receive a written 12-month HR roadmap customized to your business. It covers the specific HR priorities we identified during the assessment, organized by timeline and impact. You’ll know exactly what to tackle first, what can wait, and why each item matters — so you can make real progress without guessing.
-
No. The HR Assessment & Roadmap is a standalone paid engagement, and you’ll walk away with a real, actionable plan regardless of what you decide to do next. We’ll mention our services where they’re relevant, but there’s no pressure — many clients use the roadmap to guide their own internal HR work or to vet other providers.
-
If any of these sound familiar, it’s probably time: you’re not sure if you’re compliant with employment laws, you’ve had a hiring, firing, or employee issue that felt messy, your employee handbook is outdated or nonexistent, you’re growing and HR feels like a blind spot, or you just want a clear picture of where you stand before something goes wrong.
